The invention relates to a process and a device for obtaining instantaneous reactive current, applicable especially as a reference value for the three-phase active power filters. According to the invention, the process consists in obtaining the reference values of the instantaneous reactive current by substracting from the rectangular components of the total current absorbed by the non-linear charge of the rectangular components of the conventional active current due to the fundamental component, said current being obtained from the product between the rotation matrix and a column matrix comprising the continuous component of the instantaneous real power related to the peak value of the network voltage. According to the invention, the device consists in a circuit (9) for obtaining the voltage rectangular components, a circuit for obtaining the rectangular components of the current (10) absorbed by the non-linear charge, some multipliers (11, 12, 14 and 15) and adders (epsilon), a circuit for the extracting (13) the continuous component and a circuit for transforming (16) the rectangular components of the instantaneous reactive current, in three-phase quantities representing the reference quantity for the active filter.
