The invention relates to a method of creating maize lines with alleles of genes of colouration of a caryopsis, which includes backcrossings, testing of the availability of a recessive allele of colouration of caryopses, selection of dark caryopses forms for the further backcrossing, carrying out preliminary backcrossings and simultaneously test crossings, selection of dark caryopses for the further backgrossing. The selection of the dark caryopses, a half of which bears the necessary recessive allele, to carry out backcrossing, conducting simultaneous backcrossings and test crossings allows lowering the amount of crossings and shorten terms of creating a line.
