Horizontal seeding for clouds of super-cooled water comprises use of liquid coolant sprayed from aircraft through horizontal nozzles

Cloud seeding comprises fitting an aircraft with tanks (15) of a liquid coolant, e.g. liquid carbon dioxide, propane, air or nitrogen. The tanks are positioned so that the coolant is delivered horizontally and laterally through nozzles into the lower regions of the cloud where the temperature is 0 to -15 degrees C to create a rising turbulent flow of the coolant. The coolant is delivered at a rate of 1-50 g/s.
