In a hollow profile (1, 2, 4) for window and door frames, an inlay profile (6) of foamed polyurethane is inserted in a few chambers (5). Such a profile can be produced in that the hollow profile (1, 2, 4) and the inlay profile are coextruded, or in that the inlay profile (6) is pushed into the hollow profile (1, 2, 4) and the two profiles are thereafter welded together by heating. A window or door frame can be produced in that the inlay profile (6) is first connected to the hollow profile (1, 2, 4) and thereafter the connected together profiles are cut in common and put together to a window or door frame,IMAGE
