Method for treating the surface of implants or prostheses (A) made of titanium or other material and having a smooth surface on the upper part and the threaded attachment, and a rough surface on the rest of the threaded portion as far as (and optionally including) the apical extremity. The roughness is created by successive, and separate, treatments with: (i) 5% hydrofluoric acid for about 30 sec; (ii) 97% sulfuric acid for 3 min at 70 degreesC and (iii) 36.5% hydrochloric acid for 3-5 min at 70 degreesC. After (iii), (A) is neutralized with sodium carbonate for 5-30 sec, with stirring, followed by washing with deionized water, optionally with application of ultrasound. The roughened part of (A) is then covered with a surface layer of plasma, rich in growth factors, derived from the patients own blood.
