The preparation of strontium nitrate comprises an intermediate stage in the production of strontium carbonate. The liquid strontium nitrate is precipitated by addition of nitric acid (2), and the dilute liquid strontium nitrate (1) and the nitric acid (2) are introduced into a reactor (3). EMBODIMENT - A centrifuge (4) and a dryer (5) then produce anhydrous salt of strontium nitrate (10), for holding in a store (6).
