The invention relates to a device for transporting a rod of the type produced in the tobacco processing industry, with a guide element for the rod conveyor belt (6), said belt moving on the basis of an open channel. The aim of the invention is to improve such a device, which is specially designed to transport a rod composed of cut tobacco, in such a way as to make the guide element of the wear-resistant rod conveyor belt easy to adapt in terms of flow conditions. To this end, the guide element is provided with individual elements (4) that are adjacent to each other, and which are arranged on a support (1). Since a relatively small number of individual elements are used, these elements can be configured to be economical, but very resistant to wear. The individual elements may consist of a hard metal, a ceramic material, or the like. The flow conditions can also be modified quickly and economically, changing the individual elements in order to adapt them to a different type of tobacco.
