we describe a method for treatment of aqueous effluents containing at least methyl tertiary butyl ether (mtbe) and mu00e9thyltertioamyl ether (tame) in order to reduce the concentration of the ether.we characterized the growth in aerobic conditions in a mycobacterium austroafricanum i - 864 in the presence of a growth substrate containing the ether is degraded and the dit e bacteria to ladit ether by end products of degradation, carbon dioxide and water. the results are improved in the presence of yeast extract.application in the treatment of an aquifer.
