An apparel and patch provide a method for creating the allusion of thewearer or substrate, such as a vehicle or advertising medium, of having a bodytattoo. The apparel has an upper layer of material having an opening to exposealower layer of material. The opening is formed by a jagged edge to give theappearance of a tear. The lower layer is the same color of the wearer's skintoneto give the illusion that the torn area is revealing the wearer's skin. Atattoo ischosen by the wearer and added to the lower layer. The patch has a top layerofmaterial with a tattoo design surrounded by a bottom layer having a skin-tonedorsubstrate matching colored background. The patch includes material surroundingthe matching colored background. The surrounding material has a torn edgealong the perimeter to give the appearance of a tear.
