When a caller calls a called party through an information assistance system,the caller is afforded an option to leave a message for the called party inthe event that the call cannot be successfully completed. When the calledparty receives the message from the information assistance system through asubsequent telephone connection, the called party is afforded an option tocall the caller back, without first terminating the connection. In aaccordance with the invention, the caller may leave the same message for notonly the destination number being called, but also other telephone numbersdesired by the caller. The inventive message delivery service may also beutilized to perform a wake-up call function, an event reminder function, etc.in accordance with various aspects of the invention.
