An interactive television (ITV) system encoding content rating, contentadvisories, demographics information, and other types of ITV content profilinginformation for an ITV content into a video program. An ITV receiver receivesthe encoded video program and compares the ITV content profiling informationwith a viewer profile stored in memory. If the profiling information for theITV content does not match the viewer's profile, the ITV content is notprovided to the viewer. For example, the ITV content is not provided in thecontent rating/advisory information embedded for the ITV content is greaterthan a rating limit set by the viewer.
