A stent delivery catheter (10) that comprises a central shaft having a distaltip (50) extending therefrom, at least one guide wire, and a retractablesheath. The distal tip includes a proximal ridge which has a diameter largerthan the central shaft. The guide wire (40) includes at least one stent (30)disposed about a portion thereof. The at least one guide wire being movablerelative to the central shaft. The retractable sheath (20) being disposedabout the central shaft and the at least one guide wire (40, 60). Theretractable sheath (20) having a distal edge removably engaged to the distaltip (50). The proximal ridge of the distal tip overlapping the distal edge ofthe retractable sheath. The retractable sheath (20) being proximallyretractable from the distal tip (50).
