A method for forming three dimensional shaped products from particulatesphagnum moss material including: (a) carrying the particulate moss materialto a press forming stage on a conveyor including a belt (50) formed of aflexible and resiliently deformable material arranged move in steps, the pressforming stage including a cavity die member (27) positioned beneath the belt(50) of the conveyor and including a shaped die cavity and a co-operating diemember (26) positioned above the belt (50) of the conveyor. (b) pressing thesection of the belt (50) of the conveyor between the die members (26, 27) andthe particulate material thereon into the cavity die member (27) to form ashaped product, and (c) causing the conveyor to step onto deliver freshparticulate material between the die members (26, 27) after each operation ofthe press forming stage.
