The invention relates to an assembly (3, 31, 32) containing at least one optical conductor (12), which is introduced into a road consisting of a surfacing layer (6) and a flat substratum (1) that is located below said surfacing layer. The assembly is laid onto a surface (2) of the substratum (1) and the surfacing layer (6) is subsequently deposited as a flat surface, thus embedding the assembly in the surfacing layer. The laying of the assembly requires only a relatively small amount of effort, as no earth displacement or construction engineering work is required for the laying process. The invention is particularly advantageous, if the road surface already requires renewal.
