Damping device for moving masses, particularly for electromagnetic drive systems

The damping device is provided for camless electromagnetic valve controls in internal combustion engines. It comprises a damping element (13) on which one of the mass to be moved (5, 6) exerts oppositely directed force. In order to form the damping device so that it operates quietly, has a long life and reliable braking to standstill the shortest path, the damping element (13) is a damping piston which defines a pressure chamber (15). In it, a hydraulic line (25) which can be closed during displacement of the damping piston (13) by the moving mass while displacing the hydraulic medium from the pressure chamber (15) and structure of a hydraulic pressure in the pressure chamber (15) opens. The damping device is suitable for electromagnetic drive systems are preferably used for camless electromagnetic valve controls in internal combustion engines.
