The invention relates to a device for dosing molten glass in a sprue channel of a float installation for producing a float glass strip. Said float installation comprises at least one locking gate (tweel) which is at least partially provided, on its surface, with a layer that contains a noble metal alloy. The invention is characterized in that the locking gate, at least in the area of its maximum depth of immersion into the molten glass, is provided with a platinum layer that contains 5 % by weight of gold which is only slightly wetted by the molten glass, thereby improving the surface quality of the float glass strip.
