The invention relates to the use of at least one quercetine flavonoid in combination with at least one saccharide selected among resistant starch (RS), a non-starch polysaccharide, or an oligosaccharide in order to increase in a continuously improved manner the level of useful short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) in the lower intestinal tract and stimulate reabsorption of liquid and dissolved electrolyte.
