A training system (10) has three programmable robotic ball shooting machines (20)(30)(30) that communicate via link (50). The communication link (50) may be a conductor, such as a cable, or alternatively, the communication link (50) may be wireless. Each of the robotic ball shooting machines (20)(30)(40) is provided with a protective housing (52) which is shaped to deflect tennis balls and each is supported on wheels (54).
