A rope and method for providing weight or buoyancy to the bottom or top edges respectively of a fish-farming holding net, characterized in that said rope comprises an ordinary rope (12) in parallel arrangement with a weighted or buoyant rope (14), both of said ordinary rope (12) and weighted or buoyant rope (14) being enclosed by an outer sheath (16), and said method comprising the use of a sewing machine to attach said rope to the edges of the net by sewing a seam through said ordinary rope and into the net material.
