Needleless jet injector system with separate drug reservoir

A device for providing medication for injection by a jet injector includes a cassette (12) which connects an injector system (14) to a reservoir (16). The cassette forms a fluid pathway (32) at an interface of a cassette lower body (30) and a cassette upper body (28). The cassette (12) also forms an impulse chamber (42) with a nozzle (44) leading therefrom. The fluid pathway (32) interconnects the reservoir (16) with the impulse chamber (42). The medication flows from the reservoir (16) along the fluid pathway (32) and into the impulse chamber (42). Force from an impulse generator (54) drives the fluid medicament from the impulse chamber (42) through the nozzle (44), out an orifice (18) in a tip (20) of the nozzle (44), and into the skin of a patient. To prevent the pressure waves generated by the jet injector from breaking a glass cartridge in the reservoir (16), the fluid pathway (32) is blocked, using a series of right angles or valves.
