Stereoisomers of carbocyclic amine compounds such as aminotetralins are separated by subjecting a mixture of the stereoisomers toreactionwith an acylating agent in the presence of the enzyme Pseudomonas capacialipase which effect selective acylation of one of the stereoisomers to form aseparable amide, whilst leaving the other stereoisomer substantiallyunchanged.
