Casing ring has a front surface (25) which acts to adjust a side seal (16) of the strip casting machine. The ring is made of a base material (A) containing a metal. The base material or a material layer applied to it is provided with an additional layer made of ceramic particles. Preferred Features: The additional material layer has a hardness of 2000-5000 daN/mm2 and a friction coefficient of 0.1-0.01. The additional material layer is made of PSZrO4 or a material based on amorphous hydrocarbon.
