METHOD FOR EXTRACTING AND SEPARATING PERILLYL ALCOHOL FROM CITRUS PEEL BY USING ETHANOL

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for extracting and separating perillyl alcohol excellent in anticancer effect in a high yield from Korean citrus peel by using ethanol as an extracting solvent. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of: adding the citrus peel powder to the ethanol solvent and stirring 50-55deg.C to prepare an ethanol extract containing the perillyl alcohol; concentrating the ethanol extract and mixing the concentrated ethanol extract and hexane in the volume ratio of 1/5-1/3 and stirring and distributing into the ethanol extract layer and the hexane layer; separating and concentrating the ethanol extract layer in a glass column by using pure ethanol as a carrier; and separating the perillyl alcohol from the concentrated ethanol extract by using chromatography using water/ethanol as a carrier.
