PURPOSE: A system for detecting defects of bus insulator of electric furnace is provided to prevent large facility accidents in advance due to insulation defects by detecting the insulation state between ground and bus for smoothly flowing electric power supplied to electrodes of an electric furnace facility. CONSTITUTION: The system for detecting defects of bus insulator of electric furnace comprises power supply input parts(1 to 3) for amplifying the power supply by inputting a power supply impressed to electrodes (E1 to E3); an insulation resistance input part(4) for measuring insulation resistance between bus and ground during non-conduction (during work preparation); an arc initial detecting part(5) for detecting the initial state before arc is formed by supplying the power supply to the electrodes; an average voltage detecting part(5) for detecting average voltage of three-phase electrodes in the state that the power supply is supplied to the electrodes; electrode insulation defect judging parts(7 to 9) for judging the insulation state of each of the electrodes by comparing the three-phase electrode average voltage with the electrodes (E1 to E3) respectively; a nonpower detecting part(10) for detecting the non-conduction state of the electrodes; an insulation resistance threshold setting part(11) for setting threshold of insulation resistance values of an insulator; electrode insulation defect output parts(12 to 14) for outputting an output by judging the insulation defect state of each of the electrodes; an insulation defect output part(15) for outputting the detected insulation state by detecting the insulation state of the insulator during non-conduction; and an analog output part(16) for outputting the current insulation state of the insulator in analog signals.
