PURPOSE: An artificial floating island for establishing ecological environment and improving water quality and method thereof are provided, on which planting foundation is formed for implanting aquatic plant or arbor plant, and various tree to form landscape and at the underneath of underfloor of the main body(10), artificial roots are removably installed to provide for microorganism to habitat for purifying water. CONSTITUTION: The artificial floating island floating on water of river and freshwater lake on which landscape planting is provided for constituting surrounding environment and purifying water quality is constituted by a main body(10) which is formed by stainless pipe, PE pipe or expanded urethane resin floating on water, and at the underneath of the underfloor of the main body(10) artificial roots are removably installed to provide for microorganism to habitat, the artificial roots being formed by bundles made by at least more than two roots to be a cylindrical net in which artificial soil of particle size of 150 m, density of 0.30 to 0.40 mg/m¬2, porosity of 60 to 85 % is filled as a core.
