PURPOSE: A dew sensor by using the evanescent field absorption of a planar waveguide coupled to a side polished optical fiber is provided to measure an additional optical output during the generation of the dew by proposing the sensor to increase the output power when the dew is detected at a 100% relative humidity. CONSTITUTION: A dew sensor by using the evanescent field absorption of a planar waveguide coupled to a side polished optical fiber includes a single mode optical fiber(1) polished at side ends thereof for detecting the dew, a planar waveguide(2) made of a microscope glass and an optical fiber curvature radius maintaining V groove(3), wherein the operation of the sensor shows an amplification effect not an optical loss when the dew of the single mode optical fiber(1) is detected, whereby the dew sensor detects the accurate position of the dew.
