PURPOSE: A heat treatment method for improving wear resistance of overlay welded nickel alloy layer is provided to improve hardness and wear resistance of the overlay welded layer by furnace cooling the alloy layer after heat treating the alloy layer for a time impressed according to thickness of a nickel alloy layer overlay welded on a base metal. CONSTITUTION: In a method for improving hardness and wear resistance of a nickel based alloy overlay welded onto a base metal by plasma transferred arc welding, the heat treatment method for improving wear resistance of overlay welded nickel alloy layer comprises the process of furnace cooling the heat treated alloy layer after heat treating the alloy layer at 760 deg.C for a time impressed according to thickness of a nickel based alloy layer overlay welded on a base metal, wherein the heat treatment time impressed according to thickness of the nickel based alloy layer overlay welded on the base metal is one hour per 3 mm thickness of the nickel based alloy layer.
