PURPOSE: A method for extracting a neutral surface of a model for a product interpretation is provided to automate to extract a neutral surface of the model for a product interpretation and supply a thickness attribute automatically. CONSTITUTION: Configuration information(three-dimensional CAD information) of a product is read as a model creation program for a product interpretation through a standard compatible format such as a direct interface, an IGES(Initial Graphics Exchange Specification), or an STEP(Standard for The Exchange of Product model data)(S1). If the configuration information has a loss(S2), a configuration error being generated in transmitting data is modified. If a direction of a curved surface has an error, the error is modified automatically(S3). An extraction surface is automatically created from the configuration information(S4). At this time, thickness information for deciding a thickness of the extraction surface is automatically calculated. A boss or rib surface for reinforcing a specific portion of the product is automatically connected to the extraction surface, and a neutral surface is automatically created(S5). A classified non-extracted surface is removed through a program command for creating a model for a product interpretation(S6), and a neutral surface for the interpretation is extracted. A finite element having a designated size is created on each neutral surface, and the model for interpreting a product is completed(S7).
