PURPOSE: A center axle disconnecting system for a 4-wheel drive vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to improve such problems as the stability in braking, the generation of rattle noise and the impossibility of change between 2-wheel driving and 4-wheel driving by supplying hydraulic pressure to a front axle of a center axle disconnecting system. CONSTITUTION: In a 4-wheel drive vehicle, the power outputted from an automatic transmission(400) is equally distributed to a front wheel drive shaft(410) and a rear wheel drive shaft by a center differential. A center axle disconnecting system(460) is prepared between a differential shaft(420) and an axle shaft(440) of a front differential transmitted with the driving power outputted from the automatic transmission. The center axle disconnecting system is controlled by the hydraulic pressure supplied from the automatic transmission to directly connect the differential shaft with the axle shaft or not.
