Use of Asterias amurensis hot water extract as an anti-allergic substance

PURPOSE: The use of an antiallergic material derived from a hot water extract of Asterias amurensis is provided. The extract remarkably reduces the contraction as an allergic response of an allergic asthma model in a test tube and the effect thereof is increased as an applied concentration is increased. CONSTITUTION: Asterias amurensis is extracted in distilled water for 6hr, the extract thereof is freeze-dried and administrated into a test animal. A passive cutaneous anaphylaxis(PCA) reaction of a rat corresponding to a general allergic reaction is reduced. Thus, the Asterias amurensis extract exerts a significant inhibiting effect on the PCA reaction. In the measurement of antiallergic activity in Guinea pig as an in vitro model for allergic asthma, the extract concentrated 0.25mg/ml or more reduces the contraction as an allergic response in a test tube.
