METHODE FOR ENHANCEMENT OF CONTRAST IN INFRARED THERMAL IMAGING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method is provided to improve a contrast ratio of an infrared thermal imaging system by extracting a required part from brightness value bands of pixels. CONSTITUTION: An infrared image is inputted(S201). Then, a histogram distribution is calculated from the inputted infrared image(S203). After that, a required band is extracted from the histogram distribution of a digital image signal, which is inputted into an image processing section through an A/D converting section(S205). A look-up table is prepared by integrating the histogram distribution of the required band(S207). Then, a contrast ratio of an infrared thermal imaging system is corrected by utilizing the look-up table. The contrast ratio is improved by enlarging a brightness band of the digital image signal using the look-up table.
