A New Microbe Capable of Digesting Ethylene glycol and Method for Degrading Ethylene glycol Using the Same

PURPOSE: Provided is an ethylene glycol decomposing microbe which very effectively decomposes the non-treated ethylene glycol contained in wastewater with the conditions of high temperature, high alkali and high concentration, thereby making the desired biological wastewater treatment without requiring any separate pre-treatment process or equipment. CONSTITUTION: An ethylene glycol decomposing microbe is Photobacterium sp. YE-13(KCTC 10177BP) which has an ethylene glycol decomposing capacity under the conditions of 20-50 deg.C and pH5-14. The ethylene glycol is contained in the polyester weight loss finishing wastewater, or fiber dyeing wastewater.
