PURPOSE: Provided is a method for detecting toxigenic microcystis which precisely conducts the microcystis detection, and is well used in the environment monitoring for early detecting the toxigenic microcystic, being a serious problem to the occurrence of green algae. CONSTITUTION: Toxigenic microcystis is detected from the sample containing algae using a gene probe constructed with the base sequences of SEQ ID NO 1 and SEQ ID NO 2. The gene probe is applied to polymerase chain reaction. The sample is environmental water in lake or river. The sample contains blue-green algae. The gene probe is selected from the gene related to the toxigenic blue-green algae, or the microcystin synthetase gene(mcyA).
