PURPOSE: A method and a device for controlling the intensity of illumination for a camera are provided to automatically control the intensity of light optimum for observation with low power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the intensity of illumination for a camera includes an iris control part(1) for automatically controlling an iris lens(2), and lamp parts(3) for supplying observation illumination to a micro-head CCD camera(4). The iris lens is connected to the iris control part, and an iris position recognition part is connected to the iris control part. The lamp part is connected to a current control part(5), and the current control part is connected to the iris position recognition part. A current amount supplied to the lamp part is controlled by the current control part according to an aperture rate of the iris lens.
