PURPOSE: An expansion joint for preventing a shock is provided to lengthen the life span of products by reducing a shock between an expansion joint and vehicle wheels and to promote the improvement in ride comfort of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: To mount an expansion joint for preventing a shock, openings(61) of an edge are slit to form tooth portions(62). Anchors are supported to each distributing bar exposed to the openings, and joint bodies(1) are mounted integrally with a road surface. Then, concrete(6) is injected and cured in the opening at the height of the road surface. The tooth portion has the same effect when vehicle wheels are moved between the opening and the joint body. Each hypotenuse of the tooth portion is contacted with the vehicle wheels point by point sequentially for the vehicle wheels likely to ride up an uphill. Thereby, the vehicle wheels are rolled over the concrete-cured opening from the road surface naturally. A shock between the vehicle wheels and the opening is reduced in collision even though a specific gap is formed by the eccentric abrasion between an asphalt concrete portion(7) and the concrete opening.
