PURPOSE: Provided is a method for separating deamidated forms, oxidized forms or N-acetylmethionine forms of human growth hormone(hGH) variants or related proteins effectively from normal forms of hGHs. CONSTITUTION: The method for separating hGH variants or related proteins from normal forms of hGH is characterized by subjecting hGH to an open and shut type of column chromatography using a gel matrix of the anion exchange chromatography having average particle size of less than 50 micrometer and sodium chloride gradient in a pH 5 to 9 buffer solution, wherein the gel matrix of the anion exchange chromatography uses DEAE (hihydroxyethylaminoethyl) or Q (Quaternary ammonium) as a ligand; and the gel matrix of the anion exchange chromatography is selected from Source 30Q, Q-Sepharose HP and Macroprep-25Q; the buffer solution is tris, phosphate, histidine, ammonium bicarbonate or citrate; and the hGH variants are deamidated forms, oxidized forms or N-acetyl met-hGH forms.
