Amino acid sequence of TPO is given in description as well as DNA encoding polypeptide TPO with amino acid sequence given in description. Polypeptide TPO is obtained by its expression in suitable host followed by its isolation. Pharmaceutical composition for treatment of platelet-associated disorders comprises effective amount of polypeptide TPO and acceptable carrier. Pharmaceutical composition is administrated to subject in effective amount for treatment of platelet-associated disorders, for example, thrombocytopenia. Immunization of animal with polypeptide TPO is carried out and antibodies raised against this polypeptide are isolated.
