The chisel is fabricated from a base section with dimensions corresponding to the diameter of the chisel head (11) without collar (20), so that a turned part (10) is formed with head, without collar, and with a shank (15) having a holder for the clamping sleeve. The section of the head facing the shank is axially upset to form the collar. The end face of the head has a holder for a hard metal chisel tip. The holder for the sleeve is defined by two shoulders (14,18). The chisel is hardened after turning and upsetting.
