The unit has a drive shaft (1) projecting through a stationary clutch operating magnet (3), and with a rotor (7) held axially loosely on the shaft end (6). The rotor is held via an axial force in elastic sliding contact on an anchor plate (15), and the plate on the brake magnet (11), as long as the clutch operating magnet is not excited. The force is generated by a mechanical pressure spring (19), which is positioned on the shaft on the side of the rotor away from the anchor plate, and is supported on plate and shaft.
