Downstream of the cross- or counterflow heat exchanger (1) is a parallel-flow heat exchanger (4) freely immersed in the storage water in the upper part of the storage tank. The main heat exchangers (1) feed water by pump and are flowed as thermosiphon exchangers with flow arranged to draw the flow through to permit layer-wise tank discharge. The downstream exchanger (4) is flowed from below and placed at the same level as the main exchanger or above this (1). The exchanger (4) is arranged in the pressure vessel base area (5). The main exchanger (1) outflow (3) runs out and houses a mixer valve and is joined to the immersed exchanger outflow so as to bridge over the immersed exchanger (4) and prevent heat withdrawal from the main exchanger when its outlet temperature lies below the previously adjusted ideal temperature at the valve.
