The drive for adjusting the height of furniture legs comprises bevel gears (2, 3). The lower bevel gear wheel (2) is connected to a spindle by a connecting pin and head. A sleeve (16) inside the wheel has longitudinal slits which open when a threshold torque value is passed. There are similar slits on the pin.
