Process for carrying out chemical reactions under periodically changing temperatures involves using a micro-reactor consisting of a stack of foils having grooves. The grooves are covered by neighboring foils, such that closed channels are produced. The stack comprises groups or foils lying over each other with each group containing one or more foils. Process for carrying out chemical reactions under periodically changing temperatures involves using a micro-reactor consisting of a stack of foils (2, 3, 4) having grooves. The grooves are covered by neighboring foils, such that closed channels are produced. The stack comprises groups or foils lying over each other with each group containing one or more foils. The inlets of the channels within each group are joined together by a connecting piece. A reactant is introduced through the connecting piece of the middle group, and is converted in a chemical reaction. A heating liquid is injected into the connecting piece of one group neighboring the middle group, and a cooling fluid is injected into the connecting piece of another group neighboring the middle group. Preferred Features: A valve is before the inlet of the channels of the groups neighboring the middle group. One valve can be opened only when the other valve is closed.
