An object under test is moved between a movable radiation source (7) and a detector (8) which scan the stationary object. The radiation source and the detector are displaced parallelly across the object so that the object is scanned in and against the conveyance direction. The object is scanned once with a low-energy radiation, and a second time with a high-energy radiation.
