The method involves detecting measurement data for reconstruction of image data of an individual layer of a test object during rotational motion of a radiation source detector arrangement around the test object. A relative motion is enabled between the test object and the radiation source detector arrangement along a rotation axis (C9) of the radiation source detector arrangement during the measuring data detection. The image data of the individual layer of the test object is reconstructed from the measurement data by an iterative process. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer tomography system comprising a control and computing unit (2) a computer program comprising a program code to perform a method for scanning a test object (3) a computer program product comprising a program code stored on a computer-readable data carrier to perform a method for scanning a test object.
