Method for transmission of engine torque for motor vehicles with torque-transmitting connection between drive shaft, clutch, and planetary-gear carrier dependent upon size of engine torque
The engine torque is transmitted to elements of planetary gears having lockable hollow ring gears. With planetary gears located in a row, each having set rising or dropping transmission, and in drive phases with drive RPM na =/= 0 in which the ring gears rotate freely, a torque-transmitting connection between drive shaft and common planetary-gear carrier, is created via a clutch. A ring gear is locked in a phase, when it is not or only slightly driven relative to the transmission housing, dependent upon an RPM ratio I = ne/na between engine RPM ne and output RPM na. Locking of the ring gear relative to the housing causes release of the clutch, and torque transmission is then via drive shaft, sun gear, and planetary gears.
