A method for automatic identification of alternative travel reservations, involves inputting information concerning a planned journey, which comprises at least the destination and a return date into a data processing device. A profile is drawn by the processor for the journey by using the information and storing the profile on a storage medium. At least one rule of questions is prepared for modifying the profile and tariff data is queried also for the modified profile, in which the query is placed parallel on one or several computer reservation systems on line, and depending on circumstances on one or more tariff data banks.
