The system has a fuel storage container (2) inside the fuel tank (1) and a fuel pump (3). The storage container has two pref. four connection devices (30) located at even relative distances on its outer wall. Auxiliary fuel system components, e.g. fuel distributor (19) with filter cartridge, can be fastened to these devices in any order and combination. The components have similar complementary connection devices (31) for snap fastening. A suction jet pump (22) feeds fuel into the storage container. The container is supported against an inner wall of the fuel tank via vibration isolators (11,12).
