Production of a flexible strip material comprises: mixing a matrix alloy present as a powder and a binder system containing a binder and having a viscosity selected so that the mixture produced is pressed to form a pressed product; subjecting the product to heat; and deforming to form the strip material. Production of a flexible strip material comprises: mixing a matrix alloy present as a powder and a binder system containing a binder and having a viscosity selected so that the mixture produced is pressed with a pressure of 10 x 105 to 150 x 105 Pa; pressing the mixture to form a pressed product; subjecting the product to heat; and deforming to form the strip material. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the flexible strip material produced by the above process. The binder system is adjusted by diluting the binder. A hard material is additionally mixed in the first step. The hard material is a metallic powder having a grain size of 3-200 mu m. The metallic powder is tungsten carbide or vanadium carbide. The matrix alloy is a nickel chromium boron silicon (NiCrBSi) alloy.
