The fume extraction system (1) for a tunnel (2) with suction extraction pipes (8), and especially a road tunnel, has a channel with an upper and a lower limit and eddy hoods (4,5) between them. The channel is defined at each side by an eddy hood. The lower limit is formed by a lower channel plate (6), preferably in one piece with the eddy hoods, and/or the upper limit is a plate matching the tunnel roof contour preferably in one piece with the eddy hoods. The channel plates and the hoods can be prefabricated as a module for installation.
