The roof of the passenger cage (2) is designed so that the latter can be disposed in a maintenance position where on the one hand the roof is accessible through the shaft opening (8) and on the other the drive unit (3) can be reached for maintenance and repair work. A maintenance platform (9) can be screwed onto the roof of the cage in order to reach the drive unit. In normal operation the platform can be fixed out of the way in the upper area of the shaft wall.
